Stayed at Longmynd Hotel, Church Stretton
Friday 8 May – Arrived at hotel 3 p.m., free time during the afternoon to look around the nature trail and carvings in the hotel grounds, the town of Church Stretton or explore nearby village of Little Stretton. Met leaders David & Juliet for briefing before dinner
Saturday 9 May – 2 walks from the hotel on to the Long Mynd
1) 10 miles – Townbrook Valley, Pole Bank (high point), Shooting Box, The Batch, All Stretton & back to Church Stretton
2) 8 miles- less steep ascent via Little Stretton, Ashes Hollow, Pole Bank, Carding Mill Valley (tea rooms & national trust visitor centre)
3) Alternatives for those doing their own thing included the Shropshire Hills Shuttle bus & a walk up Ragleth Hill
Sunday 10 May – 2 walks along Wenlock Edge finishing in Much Wenlock
1) 10 miles from Rushbury, Wilderhope Manor (youth hostel), Easthope, Jack Mytton Way to Much Wenlock. Views to the west including The Wrekin
2) 8 miles same route as above but starting from Wilderhope Manor
Monday 11 May – collected by coach and taken to the Wyre Forest (journey via Clee Hill very picturesque). Dropped at Hawkbatch car park and walked down through forest and along path beside the River Severn to Bewdley, Worcs. (3.5 miles). Lunch in Bewdley before returning to Mid Susex at about 5 p.m.
A very enjoyable time was had by all - many thanks indeed to the organisers of this holiday.
